World TB Day 2026: DC Kishtwar Launches ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ 100-Day Campaign
KISHTWAR, March 24, 2026 — In a major step toward a tuberculosis-free future, the Department of Health Kishtwar observed World TB Day 2026 with a high-profile event at the DDC Council Office. The occasion marked the official launch of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (100 Days Campaign) 2.0, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS.
“Yes! We Can End TB”: A Call for Janbhagidari
This year’s global theme, “Yes! We Can End TB. Led by Bharat. Powered by Janbhagidari,” resonated throughout the summit. Addressing the gathering, DC Pankaj Kumar Sharma emphasized that eliminating TB requires more than just medical intervention—it requires a movement.
“Ending TB is not just the responsibility of health authorities; it requires active involvement from every citizen. With collective efforts and the spirit of Janbhagidari, we can truly make Kishtwar TB-free,” the DC stated.
He urged patients to complete their full treatment courses and assured them that the district administration remains committed to providing comprehensive nutritional, medical, and social support.
Financial Support and the NIKSHAY Initiative
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar, Dr. Yudhvir Singh Kotwal, shared promising data regarding patient support in the district.

Total Beneficiaries: 412 TB patients.

Disbursement: ₹18,54,000 distributed to 389 beneficiaries (94% coverage) during 2025-26.

Nutritional Aid: Patients receive ₹1,000 per month under the NIKSHAY scheme to assist with dietary needs during recovery.
Recognizing Excellence: TB-Free Panchayats
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of local leaders who have made significant strides in grassroots health. Out of 136 Panchayats in the district, several were awarded for their exemplary contributions:

Bronze Certificates: 13 Panchayats
Awards were presented to the respective Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Panchayat Secretaries.
