8th International Day of Yoga-2022 with the theme of ”Yoga for Humanity” was today celebrated across the District Kishtwar with great verve and vigor.

The main function was organized here at Chowghan ground Kishtwar by District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with the Indian Army, Youth Services & Sports Department, Kishtwar Development Authority, AYUSH, Police and other Departments wherein around 1000 enthusiastic people and yoga lovers from all walks of life including District officers, troops from Army, Police and Paramilitary Forces & Students from Kishtwar District participated and jointly made this event a grand success.



The day was celebrated based on the “Common Yoga Protocol” issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The event was led by renowned Mumbai-based yoga instructor Jahnavi Patwardhan from ‘SARVA YOGA’ who explained the benefits of yoga exercises for the prevention of lifestyle diseases and stress management.



The event was graced by dignitaries like Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma, Commander, 9 Sector RR, Brigadier Pranab Misra, CO, 17 Rashtriya Rifles, Colonel Ameya Chiplunkar Commandant 52 CRPF, Prama Shivan, ADDC Kishtwar Sham Lal, CEO KDA InderJeet Parihar, ACR Kishtwar Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACD Kishtwar Atul Dutt Sharma, CEO Kishtwar Sudershan Sharma,DYSSO Kishtwar Kharati Lal Sharma besides other district and sectoral officers and prominent senior citizen.



The event culminated with the presentation of a Memento, Certificate, and a vote of thanks was presented by Additional District Development Commissioner Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal.



Pertinent to mention that the International Yoga day is organized in India & across the globe, every year on 21st June to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits of Yoga in daily life as the Yoga asanas brings balance between body, soul, & mind, help us to understand the purpose of life and how to survive in the changing environment.



Further under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma and under the Administratorship of DYSSO Kishtwar Kharati Lal Sharma all i/c ZPEOs, PELs, PEMs, PETs, REKs, and NYCs organized Yoga camp at respective zonal HQs, schools, and nearby areas by involving more and more students, nonstudents, youths and senior citizens.



A huge gathering of 4000 Yoga lovers including students, non-students, and senior citizens at block Bunjwah, Drabshalla, Trigam, Kishtwar, Thakrai, Palmar, Nagseni, Padder, Mughal Maidan & Chatroo joined this event to make the event a grand success.
