DC Kishtwar Chairs DRSC Meeting, Directs
Comprehensive Measures to Enhance Road Safety
📍 Kishtwar | 📅 30 June 2026
“All concerned departments must work in close coordination, ensure strict adherence to road safety norms, and regularly monitor vulnerable road stretches.”
DRSC Meeting Reviews District Road Safety
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), who is also the Chairman of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC), today chaired a meeting of the Committee to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district.
The meeting deliberated on strict enforcement of traffic regulations and effective measures to minimize road accidents. Stress was laid on regular road maintenance, curbing overloading, over-speeding and rash driving, improving traffic management, decongesting busy routes, installing proper road signage and generating public awareness. The meeting also reviewed the installation of crash barriers and the promotion of speed-limit awareness through Road Safety Clubs in schools and colleges.
Key Directions Issued by the DC
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination, ensure strict adherence to road safety norms, expedite safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable road stretches. He also emphasized organizing continuous road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions.
- ARTO Kishtwar, Police & Traffic Police directed to intensify enforcement drives and launch a massive crackdown on overloading, over-speeding, and rash driving
- DTI, Traffic Police & MVD Kishtwar instructed to continue extensive road safety awareness campaigns
- Tehsildars, DTI & MVD Kishtwar directed to conduct joint enforcement drives, including surprise Breath Analyser checks to curb drunk driving
- DTI Kishtwar directed to remove prohibited stranded trucks near Berwar along the Kishtwar–Paddar Road to ease congestion and facilitate the Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026
Clearing stranded trucks near Berwar on the Kishtwar–Paddar Road is aimed at easing traffic congestion ahead of the annual Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra, a major pilgrimage route in the district.
Action Against Unauthorized Service Stations
Taking note of road damage caused by wastewater, the Deputy Commissioner directed the committee constituted earlier — consisting of the Tehsildar and the CEO, Municipal Council Kishtwar — to inspect unauthorized service stations without proper drainage facilities and seal those found violating norms. He also instructed the concerned departments to identify accident-prone locations and install crash barriers.
eDAR Monitoring & Road Works Review
The Deputy Commissioner further directed the concerned departments to ensure timely entry, processing and monitoring of accident cases on the eDAR portal and stressed the need to strengthen inter-departmental coordination.
Reviewing ongoing road works, he directed NHIDCL to fill potholes on the Kuleed–Girinagar and Hasti Morh–Malipeth stretches. NHIDCL informed that the remaining blacktopping (BT) work on the route will commence within 15 days, which had been delayed due to the shortage of bitumen.
