The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma on Wednesday inaugurated District Rural Haat under NRLM at Block Kishtwar with the active support of Rural Development Department Kishtwar and District Administration Kishtwar.

The event was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar Atul Dutt Sharma, BDO Kishtwar Sheetal Sharma, Block Programme Managers Nagseni and Paddar besides other officials and members of SHGs Umeed Kishtwar. The program was launched under the theme UMEED “Saksham Nari ki Pehchan”.

In this Rural Haat, Self Help Groups of State Rural Livelihood Mission Kishtwar shall display their products for sale. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Kishtwar said that these rural Haats will serve as a common platform for showcasing the locals’ products prepared by Women SHG members besides will cater as a common sale point to re-double the income of SHG members.

He also inspected these stalls and also interacted with SHG members and inquired about the products displayed on stallsDDC Kishtwar appreciated the efforts of women associated with Umeed.

On the occasion, District Nodal Officer JKRLM (Umeed) Javaid Ahmed informed us about the progress of SRLM’s Umeed and their linkage to the markets through online platforms like Flipkart, Meesho etc.
