DC Kishtwar Approves 61 New Youth Projects Under Mission YUVA

KISHTWAR, February 7, 2026 – In a major boost to local entrepreneurship, the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC), led by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), has approved 61 new youth-led projects under the Mission YUVA scheme.

This initiative aims to foster economic independence and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth of the Kishtwar district.

Breakdown of Approved Projects

The committee reviewed 62 total applications that were previously vetted by Small Business Development Units (SBDUs). The approved projects span across various business scales:

  • Nano Enterprises: 58 cases (The majority focus of the current phase).

  • MSME Enterprises: 02 cases.

  • Business Acceleration: 02 cases focused on scaling existing enterprises.

Following a rigorous evaluation of project feasibility and socio-economic impact, 42 applications received immediate approval, while 19 were approved pending bank verification and feasibility reports. Only one application was rejected during the scrutiny process.

Strengthening the Local Economy

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma emphasized that empowering the youth is the primary engine for Kishtwar’s economic growth. To ensure the success of these new entrepreneurs, the DC issued the following directives:

  • Fast-Track Processing: AD Employment, Smt. Mamta Sudershan, was instructed to forward all cases to banks immediately.

  • Bank Accountability: Local banks have been directed to sanction and disburse loans without unnecessary delays.

  • Mentorship: Financial institutions are tasked with providing ongoing mentorship to ensure the long-term viability of these startups.

Mission YUVA: Impact by the Numbers

Mission YUVA has already shown significant traction in the region. As of today, the performance metrics for J&K Bank in the district include:

The high-level meeting included PO ICDS Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma, ALC Kishtwar Smt. Mamta Sudershan, LDM Kishtwar Harsh Rawal, and representatives from the J&K Bank Cluster Office and the Municipal Council.
