
DDC Kishtwar Holds Quarterly General Council Meeting, Focuses on Development and Grievance Redressal

The District Development Council (DDC) of Kishtwar, under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs. Pooja Thakur, convened its Quarterly General Council Meeting on [Date of Meeting – 04-02-2025] at the DC Office Complex. The meeting centered around reviewing developmental progress, addressing public grievances, and streamlining project implementation across the district.
The meeting commenced with CEO General Council/ADDC Kishtwar, Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), welcoming the council members and outlining the meeting’s agenda. A key focus was the Action Taken Report (ATR) on grievances raised in the previous meeting. Departmental officers provided updates, reporting significant progress in resolving these issues, with assurances that remaining concerns would be addressed promptly.
Mrs. Thakur led a comprehensive review of the physical and financial progress of various crucial projects. These included initiatives under the District Capex Plan, Area Development Plan, MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin), Awaas Plus 2.0 Survey, and RGSA (Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan) for the financial year 2024-25.
DDC members actively participated, raising block-specific issues related to essential services such as PHE (Public Health Engineering – Water Supply), Health, JPDCL (Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited – Electricity), Education, and PWD (Public Works Department). These concerns were duly noted by the CEO General Council for immediate action by the respective departments.
Chairperson Thakur emphasized the need for swift action on these issues and urged executing agencies to accelerate the pace of ongoing development projects, ensuring their timely completion within the FY 2024-25 timeframe. She stressed efficient resource and manpower deployment to achieve set targets.
Several specific issues were directly addressed by Mrs. Thakur, including:
- Construction of a Community Hall at Suid Dachan
- Installation of a 63 kVa transformer for the Tehsil office building in Sounder, Lopara Khul
- Installation of Solar lights as per plan
- Improved water connectivity under JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission)
- Electricity connectivity for residents of Thumbola Pullar
- Expedited construction of Huri Bridge and Suid Bridge
- Submission of documentation related to PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) road surveys by PWD authorities
Mrs. Thakur underscored the importance of interdepartmental coordination to remove bottlenecks hindering development works and ensure seamless project execution. This collaborative approach, she emphasized, is crucial for maximizing the impact of development initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the ACD (Assistant Commissioner Development) Kishtwar. Attendees included CEO General Council/ADDC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal, ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, DSWO (District Social Welfare Officer) Kishtwar, ALC (Assistant Labour Commissioner) Kishtwar, AD (Assistant Director) Handicraft, DDC Members, and other district and sectoral officers.
