BIS J&K organises awareness programme at Kishtwar

Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) J&K organised an awareness program today at Conference Hall, Mini secretariat,DC Office complex Kishtwar.



During the programme, officers and officials were informed about the quality of products available in markets which eventually benefits general public.

The program was attended by Joint Director Planning Mohd Iqbal,ACR Kishtwar Varunjeet Singh Charak,DFO Marwah Vijay Kumar, Head BIS J&K Branch Office Tilak Raj, Food safety Officers and other concerned officers and officials of District Kishtwar.



Speaking on the occasion, Head BIS J&K Branch said that the aim and objective of the programme is to focus on consumer welfare and safety of consumer rights. He said BIS works to promote Quality Consciousness and benefits to General Public.He said such awareness programmes are aimed to inculcate idea of quality among masses.



He said the focus of BIS is to handhold the industry so as to ensure quality products reach the consumer. He also advised all the Heads of Departments to invariably use IS number while preparing the tender and in case need any help JKBO may be requested for the same



Speaking on the occasion Director BIS (J&K) highlighted the role of BIS J&K through power point presentation.He highlighted the provisions of BIS certification and other aspects of BIS.



While highlighting Product certification provided by BIS, he said that samples taken from various business and factory units are taken to the laboratory for testing before issuance of Registration Certificates or BIS licenses



He also informed the use and utility of BIS Care app for verification of HUID Hallmarking, ISI marking and registration mark. Further through the App standard can be downloaded free of cost and raining complaints also

He also said that general public can register complaints through online mode regarding any violation related to product quality.



Besides standardization and Training, BIS also provides Hallmarking and Compulsory Registration to the Factory units, he added.

It was informed that 410 products have mandatory ISI Marking and in near future more products shall be added in the list for which BIS/ISI Marking shall be mandatory.



Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Planning said that such awareness programmes for consumer welfare is a good initiative and shall be held in future as well in the district.
