Kishtwar: March 17.

On the 2nd day of two days Mock Drill exercise, a Mock exercise on earthquake was today conducted by a Team of 13 Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Ashok Sharma who is also the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) here at DC Office Complex Kishtwar. The exercise was conducted for assessing the preparedness and response mechanism of the UT Administration in case of a disaster situation. The Exercise was conducted in collaboration with the UTDRF, fire service, health service, police, traffic control, Red Cross, NGOs, NCC, civil defense, and other stakeholders of the Kishtwar district responsible for disaster response. This exercise was aimed to take the stock of efficiency and capability of all the stakeholders responsible for disaster response and also to inculcate better co-ordination among different response agencies of Kishtwar District.



 

It is also pertinent to mention here that the 13th Battalion NDRF has been raised by the MHA dedicatedly for J&K and UT Ladakh region. Commandant 13th Battalion NDRF informed that the Battalion has planned a series of Mock Exercise in J&K to build up better synergy and enhance the capability of various stakeholders of the UT to handle the disasters to save more lives and damages in case of any disaster. Mock Exercise on earthquake was conducted by the 13th Battalion Nation Disaster response force in a highly professional and competent manner. After the demonstration, Deputy Commissioner, kishtwar appreciated the 13 Battalion of NDRF for showcasing the preparedness mechanism at the time of an earthquake.



Among others who remained present on the occasion were BDC chairman Kishtwar Suresh Sharma, ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, ACR Kishtwar Akhter Hussain Qazi, Commandant 13 Battalion NDRF Javeed Iqbal,Tehsildar HQ Chander Shekhar, Account officer, DC office, Kishtwar Imran Ahmed Kichloo, in -charge Fire & Emergency services Farooq Ahmed, Secretary, Red Cross Kishtwar Asgar Sheikh besides locals,NCC cadets (Boys & girls),and other officers and stakeholders.
