Union Minister of State Visits Kishtwar District and Reviews Hydropower Projects

Kishtwar, 03 June.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, along with being the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space, conducted a visit to Kishtwar District today.



Accompanying the Honorable Union Minister were Shri Rajeev Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited, and Sh. Bishwajeet Basu, Director (Projects).

Upon their arrival at the Dool Dam of Dulhasti Power Station, the Honorable Union Minister and the Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited were warmly greeted by Dr. Devansh Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Shri Khalil Ahmed Poswal, JKAS, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Shri Ashok Nauriyal, Executive Director of NHPC, Shri Ramesh Mukhiya, Project Head of Pakal Dul HE Project, and Shri Rajan Jairath, Project Head of Kwar HE Project besides Sh. M K Kashyap, Group General Manager (Incharge), Dulhasti Power Station.

In attendance were also the Heads of Projects and senior officers from Chenab Valley Power Project Limited, Ratle Hydro Electrical Power Project, Keeru and Kwar Hydro Electrical Power Project, who welcomed the esteemed guests.



During the visit, the Honorable Minister inspected the Dool Dam of the Dulhasti Power Station and reviewed the project’s progress after engaging with senior officers. The Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited discussed the functioning of the Dulhasti Power Station and the Dulhasti Phase-II Project with the Honorable Union Minister.

In his address, the Honorable Union Minister emphasized the importance of the development of hydropower projects and encouraged all the officers to work diligently. He highlighted the various developmental achievements and reiterated the commitment of the Union Government towards the equitable upliftment of all regions, including Jammu and Kashmir.

Due to the tragic train accident in Odisha, the Honorable Union Minister, as a mark of respect to the victims, canceled his scheduled public rallies at Nagseni and Dachhan. A moment of silence was observed during the visit in their honor.A Condolence resolution was issued for the railway accident on the occasion.



Following the visit to the power station, the Honorable Union Minister attended a meeting at Nagseni and a program at Dachhan, Kishtwar, where he interacted with several delegations comprising members of Panchayati Raj Institutions and political representatives from Paddar, Nagseni, and Dachhan. The grievances and concerns of the attendees were duly noted.

Dr. Jitendra Singh urged the citizens to encourage the youth to take maximum advantage of the Startup opportunities and highlighted various centrally sponsored schemes.



Subsequently, the Honorable Union Minister, along with the respected Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited, proceeded to their next visit in District Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, as per their schedule.
