Municipal Councils Kishtwar in collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar is taking the initiative to organize awareness programs on two important issues – plastic-free and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The plastic-free campaign aims to create awareness among people about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. On the other hand, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is a national campaign launched by the Government of India to address the issue of drug abuse and addiction in the country.




An awareness programme was organised on Monday on Plastic free and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan here at main Bus Stand Kishtwar wherein 200 students besides general public took part.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar Sh. Sham Lal (JKAS) was present as the chief guest for the program and President Municipal Council Kishtwar Sh. Sajjad Ahmed Najjar was guest of honour.

Besides SHO Kishtwar Abid Bukhari,Officials of DC Office besides Municipal Councilors and the staff of MC Kishtwar remained present on the occasion.




This shows the importance that the local administration is giving to these issues and the efforts being made to spread awareness among the people.

Speaking on the occasion,ADDC Kishtwar said that such awareness programs can go a long way in creating a sense of responsibility among the citizens towards the environment and society. They can also help in creating a more informed and aware society that is capable of making informed decisions about their health and well-being. I hope that more such initiatives are taken by the authorities in the future to make our society a better place to live in.

ADDC also asked the people to pledge to reduce our plastic usage and work towards a plastic-free future. Let us take small steps towards a better tomorrow and make the world a cleaner and healthier place to live in.




On the occasion, dust bin were also distributed among students by Municipal Council Kishtwar to instil a sense of responsibility among the students towards the environment.

President Municipal Council Kishtwar said that by providing dustbins, the Municipal Council is encouraging the students to segregate waste and dispose of it properly, which is a crucial step towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. It also helps in promoting the habit of waste segregation and management among the young generation.
