ICPS Kishtwar sensitises students about juvenile justice Act and legal rights
Kishtwar, April 21:
The Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), Kishtwar on Thursday organised one day school level awareness programme on child rights and juvenile justice.
The Programme was held under the close supervision of District Child Protection Officer, Tariq Parvez Qazi and on the instruction of Deputy commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma at UPS Panditgham and was attended by Member Child Welfare Committee Kishtwar, Javed Ahmed Zargar, Protection Officer (NIC) , Touseef Iqbal Butt, Protection Officer (IC) Deepika Bandari, Legal cum Probationary Officer Basharat Nazir and Social Workers Saima Kousar, Meenakshi Sharma respectively besides Staff and students of the host school.
Speaking on the occasion, the Protection Officer (NIC) Touseef Iqbal Butt sensitized the children about their basic and legal rights. He explained to them different laws related to children including Child Labour Act, Children in Street Situations and rights of children’s.
He said that the District child protection unit has been actively involved in organizing awareness camps regarding child rights and the activities are taking place on a weekly basis under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Protection Officer, (IC) Deepika Bandari, informed to the participants regarding the Child Rights and Child abuse. She said that the purpose of this programme is to create awareness about the functioning of ICPS. She also discussed that ICPS works towards children in need of care and protection and Children in conflict with law.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of school, appreciated the ICPS Kishtwar for organizing such an informative session in her school which would help the students to understand laws and ACTs pertained to them.
