Surajkund Mela 2020 is a festival that is also known as international crafts fair. Every year the fair observes more than a million of visitors from all over the world, both national and international. The Surajkund Crafts Mela was first hosted in 1987. Since then the festival is hosted annually by the Haryana Tourism Department in Surajkund. This is the 34th time the Surajkund Mela will be held at Faridabad. Surajkund Mela is jointly hosted by the Surajkund Mela Authority in collaboration with the Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, External Affairs, Department of Tourism, Government of Haryana and Haryana Tourism Corporation.
The main motto behind this festival is to promote handicrafts, handlooms with the aid of craftsmen invited from all over the country. Surajkund Mela is organized annually from 1st Feb Up to 17th Feb at Surajkund Haryana near Faridabad by the Haryana Govt. to promote hand made goods for the welfare of artisans and preservation of the art. The artisans and artifacts are of national and international origin. Every year one state and one nation are chosen as theme state or theme nation.
This year Kishtwari Handicrafts like Eco Slippers (Paloorh), Circular Cushions/Grass Mate (Khyoorh), Thermostatic Mates (Mandiir), Kishtwari Blankets and Woolen Cloth (Pattu) are being showcased in Surajkund Mela under the banner of Mukti (Jammu based NGO) at Stall no. 960 and 961.
Surajkund Mela 2020: Ticket price and booking
The ticket price of Surajkund Mela has been fixed at Rs 80 on weekdays and Rs 120 on weekends. You can purchase tickets before entering the craft fair. Tickets can also be purchased online, on BookMyShow’s official website.
There is a 50% discount for senior citizens, which caters to serving soldiers, disabled or handicapped people. Students can also avail of this discount. by showing their ID cards at the ticket counter.
