DLSA in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar organizes one-day Legal Awareness Programme

The District Legal Service Authority, in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar organized one-day Legal Awareness workshop aimed at facilitating the process of improving the justice delivery system in the district and filling the gap in the judiciary and police/civil agencies for the speedy disposal of justice here in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex Kishtwar.
The programme was graced by Principal and District Session Judge Yashapal Kotwal as the Chief Guest and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav as the Guest of Honour, with special guests SSP Kishtwar Khalil Ahmed Poswal and Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar Mahmud Anwar Alnasir.
The event was attended by a host of Judicial,Police & Civil officers including Munsiff Kishtwar Kartar Singh, ASP Rajinder Singh, ACR Varunjeet Singh Charak, SDM Paddar Rishi Sharma, SDM Marwah Mohsin Raza, Executive Magistrates, Police Officers and Legal Fraternity, Principal GDC, PRIs, and other concerned officials from bank and insurance agencies besides district and sectoral officers.
The programme mainly focused on highlighting and throwing light on landmark judgements of the Supreme Court of India in the case of Rajesh Tiyagi & Ors Vs Jalbir Singh &Others, D.K. Basu Vs State of Bengal, Anrnesh Kumar Vs State of Bihar, Lalita Kumari Vs State of U.P.
At the outset of the programme the welcome address was presented by Roopesh Sharma whereas Advocate Naveed Ahmed compered the proceedings of the programme.
The workshop aimed to make individuals aware of the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court regarding the detention of an individual, rights of detainees, procedure to be followed for remand and arrest.
The said session was elaborately presented through a power point presentation by special guest speakers Kartar Singh Munsiff Kishtwar and Mansoor Ahmed Addl Public Prosecutor Kishtwar.
The second session of the programme focused on the issues pertaining to the Motor Accident Tribunal claims which was presented by Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar Mahmud Anwar Alnasir who thread barely deliberated and discussed upon the various aspects to ensure the expeditious disposal of accidental claims.
Later, Chief Guest Principal District and Session Judge Kishtwar Yash Pal Kotwal briefed the participants about various issues and awared them about different sections of Criminal Procedure Code which the police authorities and executive magistrates needs to take due care and application of mind.
He impressed upon police and executive magistrates to follow due procedure of law in letter and spirit.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav and SSP Kishtwar Khalil Ahmed Poswal also spoke on the occasion.
The programme ended with a felicitation ceremony by presenting mementos to Chief guest, Guest of honor, special invitee and guest speakers and distribution of certificates among the participants.

It is pertinent to mention that said programme was successfully culminated under overall supervision and guidance of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar Muhmad Anwar Alnasir.
