DC Kishtwar presides over Public Darbar at Dak Banglow Kishtwar; listens to public issues/ grievances

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS) today held a day-long public darbar under the District Administration’s outreach programme at Dak Bungalow Kishtwar where he heard the issues and grievances of the public and PRIs.

Chairperson, Municipal Council Sajjad Ahmed Najjar, different stakeholders including ward Councillors, civil society members, among other prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.




Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma,ASP Kishtwar Rajinder Singh,GM DIC Mohd Ashraf, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed,Tehsildar Kishtwar Muneeb Umar, EO Municipal Council Ninad Sen, CDPO Kishtwar Ifat Ara,DHO Dr. Guljabeen, CHO Sajid Mustafa,besides various concerned officers attended the public darbar.

At the outset, the Chairperson Municipal Council besides other Councilors and prominent persons highlighted the issues and grievances of the people meant for the overall welfare and socio-economic development of the town.




The people from adjacent villages also raised various issues before the DC including improvement in water and electricity supply, macdamization of link roads, education and healthcare facilities.

After listening to the grievances and issues of the general public, the DC issued on spot directions to the concerned officers of line departments to look into the issues of the people so that they are redressed on priority.




While clearing doubts regarding Property Tax DC Kishtwar said that Property Tax levied will be invested in the country and all the small houses below area 1000 sqfts will be exempted.

This tax amount collected will go 100 percent into Municipal Council Kishtwar Fund and will be utilized for addressing our town development needs, he added.

Besides he said that the tax calculated will be Rs 500-1500 annually and will incur minimal burden on the Municipal residents.




While highlighting the issue of the choked drains in some wards,he said that necessary directions have been forwarded to EO, Municipal Council besides adequate funds have been issued for the same.

He asked Chairperson MC to ensure that the services of newly appointed Sanitation workers will be utilised in this regard.

DC Kishtwar also spoke about issues highlighted by councilors pertaining to mini Bus-stand Kishtwar,quality of drinking water, finalisation of Master plan for town, repair of some drains, maintenance of footpaths alongside the national highway in the town area,maintenance of Semana road etc and assured them that these issues will be redressed in time bound manner.




On the issue of the employment of locals in Hydroelectric Power Projects, DC assured that all the eligible Youths will be adjusted in Hydroelectric Power Projects besides he also urged youth to avail various self employment generations schemes.

He said that district administration is taking concrete efforts to tap the tourism potential of the area and ensuring the locals could generate their income through employement generation programmes in tourism sector

He informed the participants about the upcoming Sinthan Festival and urged people to maximise their participation in it.

On the raising concern of stray dog menace in the town, the people informed the DC that the increasing stray dog population has posed risk to the lives of the people, thereby making it difficult for the people to come out from their homes.

Taking a serious note of the issue, the Deputy Commissioner directed Municipal Council Kishtwar to look into the issue and coordinate with the Animal Husbandry Department.




The PRIs also raised various demands of their pursuits during which the DC assured that all their genuine demands shall be taken up for redressal.

The DC directed the Tehsildar and Municipal Council to remove all illegal street Vendors and encroachments in town.

He urged upon the people to be responsible citizens to ensure the safety of the public infrastructure and functionals installed by govt in their respective wards besides maintain cleanliness, not encroach public path, and drains and pay sanitary and property tax for the better functioning of municipal council.
