DC Kishtwar inaugurates first of its kind Walnut Processing Unit at Dool, Nagseni
Urged farmers to come forward and avail the subsidy linked credit scheme for doubling their income
Asked locals and PRIs to project the Model works under the RR Plan of Pakal Dul HEP

With an aim to increase the walnut processing in the Block Nagseni in general and Dool area in particular, the first of its kind Walnut processing unit has been established at panchayt Dool-A of District Kishtwar.
The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS) in presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Kishtwar Sajid Mustafa,Local PRIs and other Officers today inaugurated the newly established Walnut Processing Unit under name and style M/S Mumtaza Walnut Processing Unit at Drublan,Dool.
DDC Nagseni Faisal Ahmed,HDO Nagseni Daljeet Singh,HDO Kishtwar Vijay Kumar,Sarpanch Dool Safoora Begum besides farmers and locals remained present on the occasion.
The unit has been established at a cost of Rs 9.885 lacs under the project “Product Development /Market Support-Establishment of Fruit/Dry-Fruit Processing Units Machinery Parts only”.
The Subsidy of Rs 5.93 lacs has been sanctioned by the Horticulture Department Kishtwar under UT Capex.
The Unit comprises Walnut Cracking, Grading and Vacuum packing to ensure its value addition.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Kishtwar urged the farmers and orchardists to come forward and avail various subsidy linked credit schemes of the agriculture and allied departments to maximize their income manifold through establishment of value added processing units in the sector.
He stressed the local farmers to shift to the modern and hi-tech process of farming for good returns.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar also interacted with the farmers and locals of the area who apprised him about their grievances related to upgradation of local infrastructure.
Responding to the issue of water scarcity in the area, DC Kishtwar assured them that each house will be provided household tap water through WWS under Jal Jeevan Mission in a stipulated time.
He further assured them that the issue of the BT work on Drublin -Kuchalna-Tapalpora road,shortage of staff and construction of dedicated building for MS Lone Pora will be taken up with the concerned authorities for immediate redressal.
During his speech he enlisted the developmental activities taken up in the block Nagseni under the Area Development Plan of Kiru HEP project.
He also urged the locals and the PRIs to identify and project the works under the Area Development Plan (R&R plan) of Pakal Dul Kishtwar for the area which will create better infrastructure for the long run utilization.
