National Girl Child Day 2023 celebrated at Kishtwar with great Pomp and Show

To spread awareness about the educational and nutritional discrimination against the girl child in the society and to motivate the people to provide equal opportunity to girls at home and at their workplace, the National Girl Child Day 2023 was today celebrated in the district Kishtwar under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, with great pomp and show.
An impressive function was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with ICDS and other departments which witnessed a variety of activities, including motivational lectures on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ presented by the girls of different schools,Nukkad Natak performed by school artists and song by famous child singer Samridhi Sen on the occasion.
The programme was graced by Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal who was chief guest on the occasion besides SDM Paddar/ PO ICDS Dr Rishi Sharma was guest of Honour in the Programme.
The whole programme was coordinated under the personal supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed in collaboration with Officials of One Stop Centre & District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) ,Mission Shakti.

At the outset DSWO Kishtwar welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the importance of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” Campaign and talked about the significance of the National Girl Child Day celebrated on January 24th every year.
Thereafter, various Speakers also highlighted the achievements of girls in different fields of society, besides informing participants about their rights and measures being taken by the government for their social security.

Several meritorious girls were also felicitated by the chief guest in presence of other dignitaries.
A signature Campaign was also organised during the programme wherein participants marked their support for the education and equality of girl child.
Speaking on the occasion the ADDC Kishtwar apprised the girl child students about the various women and girls child centric initiatives and welfare schemes launched by the government. He also highlighted the importance of education of the girl child for the socio-economic uplift and equality of women folk.
ADDC emphasised all the participants that celebrating such days helps to promote awareness about the rights of a girl child and the importance of their education, health and nutrition.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Pledge was administered to the participants on the occasion and the programme concluded with vote of thanks presented by DSWO Kishtwar.
