DC Kishtwar Holds Public Darbar at Warwan

As part of the District Administration’s public outreach programme, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), conducted a Public Darbar in the remote Warwan area of Sub-Division Marwah to directly engage with residents and assess developmental needs. A large number of locals, including prominent citizens, participated in the interaction and brought various issues to the DC’s attention. These included concerns related to infrastructure, healthcare, education, road connectivity, communication and others. The SDM Marwah Dr. Mohd Ashraf(JKAS) briefed DC Kishtwar on various ongoing projects, their current status, and the overall scenario of the subdivision.

Key concerns raised by the public included staff shortages at GHSS Afti Warwan, inadequate healthcare services, internet connectivity, and the urgent need for a school bus for girls commuting from Mulwarwan to Sukhnai. Other d

emands highlighted included enhanced establishment of an IGNOU Sub-Centre, provision of a library, and widening of the Margan Top road. The DC directed the acceleration of ongoing road and bridge construction projects in the subdivision. He also instructed the concerned authorities to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new roads only after consultation with the Hon’ble MLA.

DC directed the R&B Department to initiate the tendering process for the KGBV building and Girls’ Hostel after completing the technical section. He also permitted two-way traffic starting today on the National Highway from Kishtwar to Srinagar via Sinthan Top after long winters.

The DC instructed telecom operators, including Jio and BSNL, to establish 5G Fiber Internet connectivity in both Warwan and Marwah within one month. He also directed all departments to ensure 100% saturation of all centrally sponsored government schemes. A group of girl students also met with the DC and requested a school bus. In response, he directed the concerned authorities to provide a bus under the District Capex Plan.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to all other grievances as well and assured the public of the District Administration’s full support in addressing genuine demands. On-the-spot directions were issued to concerned officials for the prompt redressal of several other issues, while some were taken up for further necessary action. SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh-JKPS, SDM Marwah, Dr. Mohd Ashraf (JKAS), SDPO Warwan Vijay Bhagat,BDO Warwan along with other senior officers, were present during the visit.
